Everyone laughed, and then laughed again when my mother requested that the DJ follow it with the original version from the 60s so that the "old people could dance, too". Best wedding song story I know happened at the wedding of friends of mine: the bride wrote a wonderful letter to PDQ Bach (aka Professor Peter Schickele) asking if she could commission a song for her husband as a wedding present. He wrote them a personalized "wedding song" for free and it was debuted by professional singers at the reception to the amazement of the groom!
