I’ll let you in on a secret: People in New Jersey do not talk with accents. Television shows would try to have you believe otherwise. I’m a native New Jersian, but don’t say things like cauw-fee (coffee) and tawww-k (talk) and drwah (drawer) a’la Tony Soprano. It’s the native Brooklynites and Staten Islanders who speak this ‘dialect.’

As the summer season approaches and people are wearing less clothing, I’m seeing tattoos everywhere. I don’t have a tattoo and can’t imagine liking something enough to ink it on my skin forever.
