A few months ago, we redid our living room. Husban-dito and I painted, bought new furniture, and purchased a few bookshelves from IKEA to make a ‘focal point/wall unit.’ I replaced the standard hardware on the door panels with some red “coral” knobs from Anthropologie to make it more my style. I sent pictures to a website about customizing IKEA furniture and today they featured my idea!
Here’s the link to my original post and here’s the link the Ikea Hacker page. Below is a picture of the wall unit Husbandito and I constructed from three Ikea bookshelves with upgrades of door panels and the nifty knobs.

LOL You are such a d.i.n.k., only a dink could have a white couch! I LOVE the room, particularly the chair. The bookshelves are fab!
CWG says: i actually have 2 white couches–one in my den and one in the living room. don’t worry, they are slip-covered and machine washable! red wine doesn’t scare me. i actually bought an extra slip-cover set when i bought the sofas so the 6 cushion covers or the sofa piece can be replaced if disaster strikes.
PRETTY!
CWG says: thanks, hayden. now let’s see what you’ve been doing in YOUR new house!
…Getting recognized and featured by IKEA – It’s a good thing…(said like Martha Stewart ;o)
…Great job you two! Love the decor!
…Blessings…

CWG says: well, technically it wasn’t ikea who recognized me…just a blog that deals with ikea hacks…but it’s cool all the same.
That’s actually very cute!
CWG says: why, thank you miss!
WOW. That looks great! I must know more about this IKEA I keep hearing about. Congrats on getting your ideas featured. That is sooooo cool! Where in the world did you find that awesome chair?
CWG says: thanks! i actually don’t love ikea because i feel like i’m too old to build my own furniture…but i’m so fickle that it doesn’t make sense for me to buy good furniture–i’ll only redecorate next year! and the chair came from crate & barrel. i have matching upholstered “cubes” in my den. they are REALLY cute. they’re on casters and you can zoom around the room while sitting on them.
nicely done. i love capitalism!
CWG says: why thank you, j2.
I wish my living room looked like that.
Very Pretty!
CWG says: yes, i’m sure white sofas would work really well with 3 children under the age of 6. hahaha. you know i love ya!
i love the hack…so easy and looks fabulous.
CWG says: we’re all about easy-peasy over here at chez curly wurly…
We just got the upstairs painted! Sheesh.
CWG says: get crackin’, woman!
Schnazzy, love the bookcases, coral knobs and all.
Very nice.
CWG says: did you just say schnazzy?! i heart you!
It never occurred to me to change out the knobs. What a genius idea!
CWG says: oh, just call me Einstein. lol.
