Anthony?!! Are you reading this?!?! Take back the camera and buy me THIS! Mwa ha ha!
We’ve been salivating over this house since we first laid eyes on it waaay back in 1995. It was for sale then–$185,000–but needed a ton of work, including repairs to the collapsing foundation. We visited it twice–the ceilings were easily 12 or 13 feet high, there were fireplaces is almost every room, and it was absolutely fabulous even though it needed about $150,000 worth of work.
This house is located on a hill overlooking Route 7 in Danby, Vermont and is reported to be haunted. It used to have a scary black iron fence around it and the paint color was more menacing back in the day. I would paint it and then NEVER leave it.
(The only thing we’re happy about is that someone bought it and did work on it instead of letting it fall into worse repair than it was in.) Maybe if everyone on the internet sends me a DOLLAR, I can buy this scary house and throw kick-arse Halloween parties every year.

All I see is a renovation nightmare. But it doesn’t look like it has wood windows any longer…which is odd. I do see the AC units in the windows too…
Looks like a Money Pit to me…but I am the perpetual glass half empty guy.
oh, if only the commute from VT to WNY wasn’t so far, I’d go in halfsies!
I’m pretty mean with a hammer.
Oh my gosh…I’m with you on that one!!! What a sweet house!!!!!!!!! Love it!!!
We were looking at one, when we were house hunting, that was the town morgue back in the day. There was a big door to the basement, where the horse drawn carriages would bring the bodies.
It also doubled as the town jail, there was a jail cell in the basement. Talk about creepy!!!!!
It was falling apart, and I wanted to help it. I actually felt sorry for it. A house.
Wow! I love houses like this. I wish some developer would build new houses that look like this. I’d be asking for one for my birthday, too.
P.S. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
It looks pretty SPECTACULAR.
It is lovely…I took you for more of a Morticia Adams Family House
It sure looks like a lot of fun… I want to come to your Halloween party!
I meant to stop by yesterday and wish you a Happy Birthday!!!
Bah! I love this. And would probably send you five whole dollars if you could get the rest of the Internet to agree to the $1. It really, really needs the fence back, though.
Happy birfday!
The house is darling!!!! I LOVE IT! I’m sending you a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY from Erie PA fill with tons of warm wishes!!!!!!! Rock out it is your day gurl
It sure is a purty looking house. Then again, the mere thought of being able to purchase a house – fixer upper or not – is so super affordable in my book.
Happy Birthday!!
I used to live in a town that had a ton of houses like this. Someitmes, I used to just drive around to look and fantasize (but only because if I could afford to live in one of those houses, I could also afford to hire people to clean for me).
Belated happy birthday!
